I like this recipe for alot of reasons. I guess the first one would be obvious...it just tastes SO good.

Banana bread with chocolate??? That's always a winner.

Add some nuts? Can't beat that.

But add the cherries..... and it not only adds that awesome sweet flavor, but the bright red turns it into a  perfect Christmas treat.

If I have ripe bananas around the holidays, I always pull out this recipe. It turns plain banana bread into some thing special!

Christmas Bread

1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c.sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. mashed bananas
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
3/4 c. chocolate chips
1/4 c. chopped maraschino cherries

Cream the butter and sugar. Add the flour, baking soda and salt. Fold in the bananas. Stir in the nuts, cherries and chocolate chips. Pour into  a greased 9x5 loaf pan. (I used 2 smaller pans.) Bake at 350 for 70-80 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
