Wheat Bread
The leaves are already changing colors here and the rakes will need to be dusted off soon. So many fall chores to do...but baking bread isn't a chore! I love to bake bread, especially in the fall when the weather turns colder. It's so comforting to come inside and have a slice of warm fresh bread waiting for you.
Lately I've been into making wheat bread. I found this recipe on Allrecipes. It's very soft and moist, and the texture is perfect. I added a bit more honey for extra sweetness. We like to spread some butter and homemade strawberry jam on top...delicious!
Wheat Bread{all recipes}
2 c. warm water2 c. whole wheat flour1 Tbsp. active dry yeast1 tsp. salt1/3 c. honey1/3 c. vegetable oil5 c. all purpose flour
Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Add the oil and honey. Stir in the salt and wheat flour. Add the rest of the flour gradually. Knead dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 to 15 minutes. Put in an oiled bowl and spread some oil on top of the bread,too. Cover and let rise until double in bulk. Punch dough down and shape into 2 loaves. Put in greased bread pans and let rise until 1 1/2 in. above the pans. Bake at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes.
